By way of happy accident…

I’ve been a crafter since I was a child and I get that from my mom. I remember rolling pin Santa’s for Christmas, her birdhouse mural in our front entryway, writing music lyrics across my bedroom walls with a paint pen, and Power Ranger t-shirts in elementary school made from a table cloth. She took me to my first ceramics shop, showed me my first crochet chain and still today we discuss DIY projects at random. I am a jack of all trades, but a master at none and my first sewing class in high school got me hooked behind the machine for life.

Stitch’d Whimsy is kind of a happy accident. After many years on Etsy, and multiple shops, I finally noticed that the majority of my most recent sale were plushes. So, I got rid of the rest, chose the softest fabric I could think and have been sewing in a haze of minky fuzz and stuffing ever since.

Plushes (or stuffed animals) have always been a way to show and share emotions. A squishable candy heart on Valentine’s Day, your favorite pup memorialized in fabric form, a stuffed bear created from the one awesome baby outfit they *didn’t* spit-up on as an infant.
My aim with Stitch’d Whimsy is to create the “classics” alongside the whimsical and the mythical, the aquatic and the forest dwellers. I enjoy seeing the color combinations and ideas my customers come up with and, many times, being pushed out of my creative comfort zone to sew something I didn’t think I could.
